Frequently asked questions
Is it really made on Murano?
Yes — Vetro works with the glassmakers on the island of Murano, who blow each piece there by hand, as they have for centuries.
Is it safe to drink from?
Yes — the drinkware is made to be used for water, wine and other drinks, and is finished with a clean, smooth rim. Handle it gently, as hand-blown glass is delicate.
How do I care for it?
Wash by hand with warm soapy water and dry gently. Avoid sudden temperature changes and the dishwasher, which can be hard on hand-blown glass.
Where does the colour come from?
The colours come from mineral oxides added to the molten glass — aqua, amber, rose and clear. They are part of the glass itself, not painted on.
Is each piece unique?
Yes — every glass is blown by hand, so the shape, thickness and tiny bubbles differ slightly from piece to piece. That hand-made variation is the mark of real Murano glass.
What makes Murano glass special?
Murano glass has been blown on a small Venetian island for over 700 years. It is made by hand, one piece at a time, which is why each piece catches the light a little differently.
